RISE Life Management Services, formerly the Addiction Alert Organization (AAO), was established with the assistance of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica in 1989.
Based on the Organization’s experience over the years, the direction and focus of its programmes were reviewed and adjusted in order to meet the current needs of young people at risk in Jamaica, particularly those living in Kingston’s inner city communities. In order to reflect these developments, the organization changed its name in 2005 to RISE Life Management Services, RISE being an acronym for Reaching Individuals through Skills and Education.
RISE’s programmes and activities includes the prevention and treatment of addictive disorders; a the provision of educational, vocational, health-related, entrepreneurial and life management skills; all at the community level. The targeted recipients are at-risk inner city youth, parents and other community members.
